About PLAY Fitness & Coaching

I am a Brighton based female personal trainer, supporter, coach and cheerleader.

5 years ago I was 22 kilos heavier and inactive. I set up PLAY Fitness & Coaching to help busy women who have put their health and fitness last, after putting everyone else first.

I guide them to enjoyably compromise within the realities of their life, and not have to sacrifice to achieve their goals. That for me is what modern health and fitness should be - realistic and attainable for everyone in the long-term.

I'm as passionate in coaching a change in your lifestyle as I am in a workout session - this is what helps you achieve your goals and sets my approach apart from cookie-cutter programmes.

What PLAY stands for

The PLAY Fitness & Coaching Philosophy is built around PROGRESS, LEARNING and ACTION for YOU.

I want YOU to PROGRESS  towards your goals.

I want YOU to LEARN what works for YOU.

I want YOU to feel empowered to take ACTION.

Ultimately, I want your health, fitness and diet to not feel like hard work but PLAY.
Getting to that point though might be hard work, and that is where I can help you.

Katy's Journey

I have been where you are – wondering about whether to work with a Personal Trainer. 5 years ago, I made a decision that changed my life.

Where I started

In 2018 I was the most sedentary, lethargic and heaviest I’d ever been. If I hit 3000 steps a day it was good. I didn’t think I was unhappy, but I’d definitely lost my zest for life and was going through the motions – eat, sleep, parenting, work, repeat. I’d got stuck on the conveyor belt of life, and was putting myself last.

I was Mum to a pre-schooler, I commuted to London, I always took the lift or escalator and I hated shopping for clothes. Photos from then are in short supply. I'd become inhibited and was sat on the sidelines of my own life - I was existing rather than living.

Something had to change

I already had the gym membership I never used. I’d done some boot camps. Nothing had been long term. I knew broadly what I should be doing - generic training and meal plans were readily available online. But none of that understood me, my specific needs, my specific challenges and blockers and helped me work out what I needed to do – I was lost. And I was fearful of taking a step.

What if it doesn't work?
What if I can't have my favourite food?
What if I can't do it?
What if I look silly?

I had loads of 'What ifs?' but recognised the only way things would change was if I took action.

Transformation

I decided to employ the coaching and support of a personal trainer and it was transformational, but not just in the ways I expected. I lost weight. I was fitter and healthier. Friends complimented me. I no longer hated clothes shopping.

But I got much more than that and it has been an investment that is accruing interest daily. The biggest difference? My confidence and positive attitude, coinciding with the most successful period of my previous career.

Career change & coaching

My values shifted and helping others to fulfil their goals is what lights the fire in my belly.

Since 2021 I’ve re-trained, pivoted and transferred a lifetime and career’s worth of skills and my own experience into personal training, nutrition advice and coaching.

I can’t wait to help you achieve your goals.
