Why is thinking about what you can add rather than take away from your life more likely to get you the results you want?

As we bid farewell to the sunny days of summer and transition into the shorter and darker days of autumn, it's natural to reflect on the whirlwind that was the past few months. Summer, with its carefree nature, holidays, the kids off school, might have led some of us to stray a bit from our usual health and fitness routines with a bit of excess, I know it did for me.

The Power of Positive Framing: Rather than dwelling on the things you might feel you need to cut out of your life post-summer, let's flip the script. Let's trade in deprivation for celebration, restriction for empowerment. Instead of saying "no" to certain foods or activities, let's say "yes" to choices that align with our goals and values. Let's focus on what we can add to our lives – new habits, exciting experiences, and a renewed sense of purpose.

To jumpstart your journey there are some coaching questions designed to help you identify the positive changes you want to make and set achievable targets. By focusing on the positives additions, you're setting yourself up for a journey that's not just transformative, but also incredibly fulfilling.  You can access that here and you will get emailed back your actions to include more of what you want to in your life.

Behaviour Boost & More Mindset Coaching

The More Mindset: Imagine a life where "more" doesn't mean excess, but rather abundance of the good stuff. It's about adding more of what makes us thrive – more colorful fruits and vegetables that nourish our bodies, more lean proteins that energise us, more meaningful conversations that nurture our relationships, and more movement that invigorates us.

Ideas for Adding More:

  • Nourishing Nutrition: Add "more" colourful variety to your plate – embrace vibrant veggies and fruits that elevate every meal.
  • Wholesome Protein: Infuse your meals with "more" lean proteins, supporting muscle growth and overall vitality.
  • Heartfelt Connections: Prioritise "more" meaningful conversations with loved ones, creating a stronger support network.
  • Active Adventures: Embark or include "more" movement that excites you – dancing, hiking, hula-hooping
  • Self-Care Rituals: Add "more" self-care moments to your routine like a baths.
  • Quality Sleep: Prioritise "more" sleep, a cornerstone of overall well-being and vitality.

Use these as ideas of what you could do more of and then use the coaching questions designed to work out the specific actions you can take that fit with your life.  So rather than ‘get more sleep’ through the coaching questions you might conclude that you will go to bed at 10pm 4-6 nights a week.  You can access the coaching questions here and your conclusions will be emailed through to you.

About Katy Harkness

Katy founded PLAY Fitness & Coaching after she made changes in her life, which saw her lose over 20kg and become the fittest she has ever been.

As Katy became more interested in health and fitness, the algorithms shared more and more misinformation.

Becoming frustrated with unrealistic goals and standards being set, that are often not healthy, Katy left the advertising industry where she had a successful 20+ year career, to help create the change she wanted to see in the health and fitness industry and to support people to make the sustainable, long term changes they wanted to see in their own lives.
